COURSES

This course is an introduction to IPM (PROSPER, MBAL and GAP) in the context of oil field applications. A series of tutorials and introductory videos will guide you to build up knowledge on the use of the tools.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is divided into three main sections. The first part of the course focuses on reservoir modelling. In the second section the construction of well models is explained. Finally, the entire system (reservoir, wells and pipelines) are coupled in a GAP model.

RESERVOIR MODELLING

In this section an introduction to the material balance concept is presented and there are tutorials that show the workflow to create, history match and forecast production in MBAL models.

WELL MODELLING

An introduction to nodal analysis pressure loss in the wellbore and inflow performance relationship is presented. The construction and calibration of two well models consolidate the concept.

SURFACE NETWORK MODELLING

The integration of the reservoir and well models into a common system including the surface network pipelines in GAP is presented. The tutorials in this section will show how to setup a network, solve the network (to obtain the oil production rate and how it is allocated between wells) and perform predictions.
